Question:
I am enquiring about the white wedding dress in terms of its resemblance to the [white] suit of the men, [particularly since I am] not [going to be] wearing white gloves nor white shoes with it; [So] what is it's ruling?
Response:
It is permissible for a woman to wear [a] white [dress]. There is no prohibition regarding the wearing of a white dress, with the condition that it is feminine in design and does not resemble [the clothes of] the men and nor the disbelievers; Rather, that which is prohibited is for it to be worn in a manner in which it resembles the men, due to that which has been related on the authority of Abu Hurayrah (radhi-yAllaahu 'anhu) who said:
"The Messenger of Allaah (sal-Allaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) cursed the man who wears the clothing of the woman, and [likewise] cursed the woman who wears the clothing of the man", transmitted by Abu Daawood.
And likewise if there was any resemblance to the disbelievers, then that is certainly not acceptable.
And Allaah has the complete knowledge of all affairs.
