Imaam Ibn 'Uthaymeen Passes
Away...
We have just received the
following news...
"Al-Imaam Al-Faqeeh
Al-Allaamah Ash-Shaykh Aboo Abdullaah
Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Ibn Muhammad Ibn
Uthaymeen Al-Wuhaybee At-Timeemee passed
away today.
Inna lillaahi wa inna ilayhi
raaji'oon.
May Allaah (Ar-Rahmaan Ar-Raheem
Al-Ghafoor Al-Ghaffaar) shower His Mercy
upon this Great Scholar.
Today, 15th Shaawaal 1421 (10th
January, 2001CE) the Shaikh, Allaamah and
Imaam, Muhammad bin Saalih al-Uthaimeen
breathed his last after the Asr prayer, in
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The Shaikh had been ill for a
while due to cancer and was receiving
treatment for this ailment.
>From Abu Khidr Shakeel ibn
Muhammad al-Amreekee, student at Makkah
al-Mukarramah who narrates on authority of
Shaikh Wasiyullaah, that the Shaikh had
resumed giving lectures in Ramadaan but
only by way of telephone from the hospital.
He subsequently gave lectures in person in
the Haram al-Makki but was later told that
he could not give any more lessons and was
returned to hospital. He passed away after
Asr prayer today. His funeral prayer is due
to be held after Asr prayer in the Haram
al-Makki
This is indeed a great calamity
since along with it, knowledge has been
taken away from the Ummah. Sa'eed bin
Jubair was asked, "O Abu Abdullaah,
what is the sign of the perishing of the
people?" He replied, "When their
scholars perish" (Daarimee, no. 324)
and the hadeeth of the snatching away of
knowledge by the taking away of the
scholars is well-known in this
regard.
We pray to Allaah that He grants
Shaikh Ibn Uthaimeen an abundance of mercy,
forgiveness and that He rewards him with
Paradise for his service to Islaam, the
Muslims and the Ummah, just as we ask
Allaah that he hastens the sending of a
Mujaddid such that the light of Tawheed and
Sunnah, remains uppermost till the affair
is established."
