Shaykh 'Abdul-'Azeez
Aal ash-Shaykh recommends Muslims boycott
Yahoo!...
Fatwa-Online has been informed
that: "Shaykh
'Abdul-'Azeez Aal ash-Shaykh,
the grand mufti of Saudi
Arabia, has
recommended that Muslims boycott the
internet portal Yahoo! for its role as a
porn online middleman.
I advise Muslims browsing the
internet to be wary of suspect sites that
seek material interest at the expense of
morals. We must boycott them, Shaykh
'Abdul-'Azeez said in an
interview.
If boycotting (Yahoo!) means it
will stop posting immoral material, (then)
Muslims must boycott it, said Shaykh
'Abdullaah ibn 'Abdur-Rahmaan
al-Bassaam - reacting to Yahoos
decision to open an online pornography
store.
Several other Muslim scholars also
protested against the fact that verses of
the Noble Qur.aan and the ahaadeeth
of the Prophet (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa
sallam) were displayed on the same page
in this internet portal side by side with
obscene material.
