Concerning the Muhaddith, the Shaykh - Hammaad
ibn Muhammad al-Ansaaree (rahima-hullaah),
it has been narrated by his son 'Abdul-Awwal that the Shaykh
said:
"The
innovator is not called an innovator (mubtadi’) until
he persists in an affair which has been prohibited, and this
affair consists of opposing the Sunnah"
